Coldwater Achieves Prestigious Certification for Economic Development
LANSING, Mich. – Recognized for its strategic efforts to lay a robust foundation for attracting private investment and enhancing municipal assets, Coldwater has been awarded the Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) certification, announced today by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).
With this certification, Coldwater joins an elite group of 89 communities throughout Michigan, recognized as being “thoroughly prepared” with their planning and zoning initiatives. Coldwater, as an RRC participant, underwent a comprehensive assessment to compare its current community and economic development practices with RRC best practice standards. By utilizing the RRC toolkit, communities like Coldwater integrate transparency, predictability, and efficiency into their local economic development processes. The certification signals that the community has eliminated development obstacles, making it more competitive and appealing to investors.
As a certified community, Coldwater gains access to new resources for achieving its community development goals, alongside ongoing support and technical assistance from the RRC team. To ensure adherence to best practices, annual check-ins and updates are conducted. The certification remains valid for five years before requiring renewal.
