Adoption Event Aims to Unite Pets with Loving Families Across Arizona

In an effort to provide pets with the care and affection they deserve, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control (MCACC) is teaming up with PetSmart Charities® to connect pets with families during a special adoption week. This collaborative event, known as PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week, will take place from July 20 to July 29 across various PetSmart locations in Scottsdale, Avondale, Glendale, and Phoenix.

The summer months often bring an influx of pets to shelters, creating an urgent need for adoption. Events like National Adoption Week are crucial in addressing pet overpopulation and ensuring that animals find permanent homes quickly. MCACC is committed to bringing a diverse group of pets to the public, featuring various ages, breeds, and personalities available for adoption.

Discounts and Opportunities for Adopters

Throughout the event, prospective pet owners will have the opportunity to interact with adoptable pets at multiple PetSmart locations. MCACC staff and volunteers will be present to guide potential adopters, answer questions, and assist in finding the perfect match for each family. As an added incentive, MCACC’s Everyday Adoption Center is offering discounted fees during National Adoption Week, with half-off for dogs of all ages and waived fees for dogs weighing more than 25 pounds.

Adopting a pet has a significant impact beyond providing a loving home. It also opens up space in shelters for other animals in need. Kim Powell, the MCACC Communications Supervisor, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “We’re deeply thankful to PetSmart Charities for their ongoing partnership and support. We are even more thankful for their help with finding pets loving homes as we see an increase in the number of dogs this time of year. Every adoption truly makes a difference!”
