High School Competitors Gear Up for Nevada Science Bowl Showdown
The Nevada Science Bowl is set to captivate audiences once again on February 1st, as 20 high schools compete in a dynamic display of knowledge and skill in STEM disciplines. Now celebrating its 34th iteration, this prestigious event draws 118 students from across the region, each vying for the top spot and a chance to advance to the National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., from April 24-28.
The event will kick off at 7:30 a.m. at the College of Southern Nevada’s North Las Vegas campus, located at 3200 East Cheyenne Ave. Participants will engage in a rapid-fire question-and-answer format across 12 rounds, with winners announced around 4:30 p.m. The victorious team will not only earn a $5,000 prize for their school but also the honor of representing Nevada on a national stage.
The Nevada Science Bowl provides an opportunity for the top 12 teams to secure cash prizes for their schools’ math and science departments. Annually, over 15,000 students nationwide strive to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Science Bowl, recognized as the foremost science competition in the United States.
The 2025 event is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Field Office, along with Mission Support and Test Services LLC, and Environmental Management Nevada Environmental Program Services.
