Pittston Manufacturer Expands, Creating Over 130 Jobs in Luzerne County
In a significant move aimed at boosting Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector, REV Copack, a beverage packaging company, is set to expand its operations in Luzerne County. This $3.1 million project will more than double the company’s capacity, generating at least 132 new full-time positions while preserving 18 existing jobs.
Harrisburg, PA – Governor Josh Shapiro has announced a substantial investment of $1.5 million from the state’s resources to aid this expansion. The funding is part of a strategic effort to emphasize Pennsylvania as a prime location for business growth, as highlighted in the Governor’s 10-year Economic Development Strategy.
“Pennsylvania is the best place in the country for businesses to grow and thrive — and seeing companies like REV Copack deepen their roots here in the Commonwealth sends a clear message to other businesses looking to expand or relocate here that Pennsylvania is open for business,” stated Governor Shapiro.
The expansion involves relocating from the current Jenkins Township location to a larger facility, facilitating a transition from two to at least four production lines. This move is supported by a $1.5 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan and a $55,000 WEDnetPA grant aimed at workforce training, provided by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED).
DCED Secretary Rick Siger emphasized the importance of such investments, remarking, “Manufacturing is one of the important industries we’re focusing on in Pennsylvania’s Economic Development Strategy.”
Established in Pittston since 2022, REV Copack specializes in secondary beverage packaging and offers various services, including cartoning, variety packs, multi-packs, and custom solutions. CEO Andy Josuweit expressed gratitude for the state’s support, noting, “This expansion has helped us to double our manufacturing capacity and create new employment opportunities in Luzerne County.”
The NEPA Alliance, represented by President and CEO Jeffrey Box, played a supportive role in facilitating this project, which he believes will have a lasting impact on the region’s economy.
This initiative is part of Governor Shapiro’s broader economic approach, coordinated by the BusinessPA team. The administration has secured over $3 billion in private sector investments and is focusing on making Pennsylvania economically competitive through various budget allocations, including:
- $500 million for site development, including $400 million for the PA SITES program.
- $20 million for the Main Street Matters program to support small businesses.
- $15 million for tourism marketing to boost the economy, complementing the launch of The Great American Getaway brand.
