Celebrating Three Decades of Service: Mooresville Fire Chief Set to Retire
The Mooresville community is preparing to bid farewell to a pivotal figure in its fire department as Fire Chief Curt Deaton retires. On Friday, March 27, Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey will recognize Chief Deaton’s significant contributions and leadership with the prestigious Commissioner’s Award. This accolade will be presented during a special retirement ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m.
Chief Deaton’s journey in the Mooresville Fire Department began as a volunteer. His dedication and hard work led to a full-time firefighter position in 1996, culminating in his appointment as chief in 2012. Over his 30-year tenure, Deaton not only served his local community but also held significant roles, including president of the North Carolina State Firefighters Association and the Western North Carolina Association of Firefighters.
