As April marks Child Abuse Prevention Month in North Carolina, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) and Positive Childhood Alliance NC (PCANC) are spearheading efforts to raise awareness. A significant public event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Raleigh’s John Chavis Memorial Park. This family-friendly gathering invites both residents and journalists to join the cause, plant symbolic pinwheels, and partake in refreshments and entertainment while supplies last.
This year’s campaign theme, “Positive Childhoods Start With Us,” emphasizes the collective responsibility in nurturing an environment where children and families can flourish. NCDHHS and PCANC are aligning with national initiatives to transform the discourse on child maltreatment, focusing on strengthening families and fostering interconnected, supportive communities.
