PSA Airlines Opens New Headquarters in Charlotte, Creating 400 Jobs

PSA Airlines Establishes New Headquarters in Charlotte, Boosting North Carolina’s Economy

In a significant development for North Carolina’s aviation industry, PSA Airlines, a subsidiary of American Airlines, has inaugurated its new headquarters in Charlotte. This move is anticipated to create 400 jobs in Mecklenburg County and contribute over $228 million annually to the state’s economic output.

Governor Josh Stein, along with business leaders and elected officials, marked the occasion, emphasizing North Carolina’s strong aviation sector. “North Carolina is First in Flight and the future of flight,” said Governor Stein. “PSA Airlines’ decision to move its headquarters to Charlotte is a testament to North Carolina’s top-tier workforce and strong aviation industry. This investment will create good-paying jobs locally and keep our state connected to the world.”

Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted Charlotte’s longstanding aerospace legacy, stating, “PSA Airlines making its home in Charlotte validates our long-standing aerospace legacy and our reputation as a hub for headquarters operations.” He praised the region’s connectivity, talent, and business environment as key factors in attracting such investments.

Dion Flannery, President and CEO of PSA Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of Charlotte as an aviation hub. “Charlotte is an aviation-rich talent market and we’re very excited to be here, as we’re already realizing the vast potential it offers,” he said. Flannery emphasized the headquarters as a long-term investment in both the community and economic growth across North Carolina.

The presence of the American Airlines hub at Charlotte Douglas International Airport supports approximately 150,000 jobs and generates over $30 billion in economic output statewide. PSA’s new headquarters is expected to enhance this output by generating an additional $10 million in state and local tax revenues annually.

North Carolina is home to more than 400 aerospace companies. Recently, GE Aerospace announced a $160 million investment across four facilities in the state, creating hundreds of new jobs on top of its existing 2,000 employees. Additionally, Governor Stein announced GE Aerospace’s plan to invest nearly $53 million in West Jefferson, adding 44 jobs to Ashe County.

Last year, the state witnessed its largest job announcement when JetZero committed to a $4.7 billion investment in Greensboro to establish a commercial airplane manufacturing hub, projected to create over 14,560 jobs in Guilford County by 2063.
