Governor Stein Announces New Appointments to State Boards and Commissions
In a series of strategic appointments announced today, Governor Josh Stein has named new members to various boards and commissions across North Carolina. These appointments reflect a diverse range of expertise and leadership aimed at advancing the state’s initiatives in recovery, justice, workforce, and more.
Western North Carolina Recovery Advisory
Among the appointees is Chris Sigmon from Yancey County, who will serve as an at-large member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Western North Carolina Recovery. Sigmon, with a robust background in manufacturing and operations, comes from a career that spans medical, automotive, and electronics sectors. His extensive board experience includes roles with United Way.
Juvenile Justice Planning Committee
Dr. Peter J. Kuhns of Durham County has been appointed to represent public agencies in delinquency prevention efforts. As the director of facilities and programs at the North Carolina Division of Juvenile Justice, Kuhns brings over two decades of experience, including 19 years as a psychologist for juveniles and adults.
NCWorks Commission
The NCWorks Commission will see the addition of two new members: Carnessa Ottelin from Wake County, who will represent the chemical industry, and James Arthur Goodnight, also from Wake County, who will represent business and industry. Ottelin is known for her strategic partnerships in education and workforce solutions at Siemens Healthineers, while Goodnight brings experience in real estate development with a focus on historical preservation.
Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
Hope Morgan from Alamance County and Bellandra Benefield Foster from Guilford County have been appointed to the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. Morgan, a licensed surveyor, specializes in lidar and imagery collection, while Foster, president of BBFoster Consulting, is recognized for her leadership in civil and transportation engineering.
Board of Physical Therapy Examiners
Gloria Lewis of Granville County has been appointed as a public member. A dedicated community member, Lewis is passionate about engagement and has a rich personal background as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
North Carolina Holocaust Council
Dr. Adam O. Goldstein of Orange County joins the North Carolina Holocaust Council as an at-large member. A distinguished professor at the University of North Carolina, Dr. Goldstein’s research focuses on tobacco-related issues and health communication.
Interagency Coordinating Council for Children with Disabilities
A series of appointments have been made to the North Carolina Interagency Coordinating Council for Children from Birth to Five with Disabilities, including Lianne J. Diaz Navarro, Theresa A. Leyton, Gaile Osborne, Sharon A. Bell, Ryan Guthrie, and Cornelia M. Singletary. These members bring personal and professional experiences in advocating for children with disabilities and supporting family services.
North Carolina Partnership for Children
