JX Advanced Metals USA Opens New Manufacturing Plant in Mesa, Arizona

JX Advanced Metals USA Unveils Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Facility in Mesa

MESA, AZ (November 20, 2024) – JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. (JX USA), formerly known as JX Nippon Mining & Metals USA, Inc., has officially opened its latest high-tech manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona. The grand opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by esteemed company officials and local leaders. Situated on a sprawling 63-acre site at the intersection of Germann Road and Crismon Road, the plant is currently performing test production, with full-scale operations anticipated in early 2025.

Key figures from JX Advanced Metals USA, including Takeshi Suwabe, Executive Officer and General Manager of the Thin Film Materials Division, were present alongside Mesa Mayor John Giles, Mesa Councilmember Scott Somers, and representatives from the Arizona Commerce Authority.

The Mesa facility will manufacture advanced sputtering targets, crucial components for the semiconductor industry, serving a growing clientele in both the U.S. and Europe. This new plant is expected to more than double the production capacity of JX USA’s Chandler plant, reinforcing the company’s status as a pivotal supplier in the expanding market.

“Today’s opening marks an exciting milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA, Inc. as we extend our commitment to Mesa and the advanced materials industry,” said Mr. Takeshi Suwabe. “Our new Mesa facility will not only drive growth in semiconductor materials production but also serve as the center of JX USA’s business in the advanced materials field in the U.S.”

Mesa Mayor John Giles emphasized the importance of the facility: “JX USA’s choice to make Mesa their manufacturing base reaffirms our city’s appeal as a hub for innovation and advanced technology. We are honored to support this remarkable company as it grows and contributes to the industry and local economy.”

The 273,000-square-foot plant boasts extensive advanced technology production zones, collaborative office areas, solar panel covered parking, electric vehicle charging stations, a fitness center, and a garden area for employees. The completion of this facility marks a significant move in JX Advanced Metals Corporation’s strategy to establish Mesa as a central hub for its U.S. operations in advanced materials.

“We are excited to celebrate this milestone for JX Advanced Metals USA in Arizona,” stated Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. “JX’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility expands JX’s legacy in Arizona while furthering Arizona’s semiconductor leadership. We’re grateful to JX for their continued commitment to Arizona and look forward to supporting their success.”

“Today’s grand opening represents an incredible achievement not only for JX USA but for Mesa’s Pecos Advanced Manufacturing Zone,” said Mesa District 6 Councilmember Scott Somers. “This facility is a testament to our renewed focus on bringing high-value manufacturing jobs to the Mesa Gateway Area, and we are proud to welcome a company that will play a vital role in supporting Mesa’s economy and the global semiconductor industry.”

The decision to establish operations in Mesa was influenced by Arizona’s business-friendly environment, skilled workforce, and infrastructure designed to support the semiconductor sector. JX Advanced Metals Corporation’s investment underscores its dedication to Mesa as a long-term growth base for the semiconductor industry, supplying essential materials for technological advancement in North America and Europe.
