Drake University Hosts Roads to Religion Event for Interfaith Exchange

Drake University is set to host an enlightening event titled Roads to Religion, which promises to bring together a diverse array of local religious communities. Scheduled for February 15, from 3 to 5 p.m., this gathering will take place at the Olmsted Center on the university’s campus and is open to everyone at no charge.

Attendees of Roads to Religion can anticipate encountering representatives from over ten different religious and spiritual traditions, each contributing to a vibrant tapestry of beliefs and practices. These communities will be positioned in a map-like layout across the hall, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to navigate and explore. Additionally, the event will feature musical and cultural performances from several participating groups, enhancing the experience with live art. Drake University’s catering service will provide refreshments.

The event is part of The Comparison Project, an initiative that focuses on the comparative philosophy of religion. It aims to deepen the understanding of the diverse religious practices within the community while promoting interfaith literacy and leadership. This project benefits from the support of various entities, including Drake’s Center for the Humanities, the Stringfellow and Hay Lectureships, the Slay Fund for Social Justice, the Principal Center for Global Citizenship, Humanities Iowa, and Cultivating Compassion: The Dr. Richard Deming Foundation.

The Iowa Interfaith Exchange, which collaborates with The Comparison Project for this event, also includes organizations such as CultureALL, the Des Moines Area Religious Council, and the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa.
