Wedgewood Breaks Ground on New Veterinary Pharmacy in Chandler, AZ

Wedgewood Expands with New Veterinary Pharmacy in Chandler, Arizona

The city of Chandler, Arizona, is set to become a central hub for veterinary care as Wedgewood, the leading provider of compounded animal medications, breaks ground on a cutting-edge pharmacy. This new facility is part of Wedgewood’s strategic expansion efforts aimed at enhancing their service offerings in the western United States.

Significant Investment in Veterinary Care
Located at 1680 E. Northrop Blvd., the 90,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in early 2025. It will replace Wedgewood’s current 25,000-square-foot establishment in Arizona, underscoring the company’s robust growth. This expansion is anticipated to generate 250 jobs by 2027 and involves a multimillion-dollar investment in state-of-the-art technology to ensure rapid delivery and local pick-up options for pet owners.

Commitment to Community and Innovation
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures including Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke and Wedgewood CEO Marcy Bliss. “Our new pharmacy reflects our deep commitment to the veterinary community and our dedication to harnessing the exceptional talents of our local team,” said Bliss. The facility is poised to support Wedgewood’s new online pharmacy platform, Blue Rabbit, aiding in the speedy delivery of medications and enhancing the company’s mission to improve animal care.

Collaboration and Community Support
The development has garnered support from local authorities and industry leaders. Sandra Watson of the Arizona Commerce Authority remarked on Arizona’s growth in healthcare and bioscience, expressing gratitude for Wedgewood’s investment. Similarly, Chris Camacho from the Greater Phoenix Economic Council highlighted the advantages of the region’s business environment.

Mayor Kevin Hartke celebrated the milestone, noting, “We are thrilled to celebrate this important milestone as Wedgewood begins internal construction of this state-of-the-art facility.” The project is being overseen by Gilbane, a global leader in construction and real estate development.

Wedgewood’s Growth and Future Plans
Wedgewood’s expansion is part of a broader growth strategy that includes several acquisitions, such as Diamondback Drugs and ZooPharm, and the launch of Blue Rabbit in 2024. This online platform integrates with practice management systems to offer veterinarians customized storefronts for home delivery of medications and more.
