Arizona Lithium Opens Cutting-Edge Research Center in Tempe
Arizona Lithium Limited, a key player in the sustainable lithium development sector, has inaugurated its state-of-the-art Lithium Research Center in Tempe, Arizona. This new facility is set to propel advancements in lithium processing technology, further cementing Arizona’s growing status as a hub for battery and clean energy innovation.
Federal and state officials, along with notable industry leaders and academic figures, gathered to witness the grand opening. The event featured prominent participants such as Joe Lowry, President of Global Lithium, and representatives from the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
The research center is a significant addition to Arizona’s technological landscape, housing a 20,451-square-foot complex. It includes a 3,982-square-foot laboratory dedicated to research and development and a 16,469-square-foot processing area for lithium chemicals. This facility aims to create over 20 specialized jobs and supports the expansive Big Sandy Project expected to generate hundreds of jobs in Wikieup, Arizona.
Functioning as a technology incubator, the center will focus on extracting lithium from the Prairie Project in Saskatchewan and the Big Sandy Project in Arizona. It is equipped to handle all processing stages necessary to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate.
“We are very excited to be officially opening the Lithium Research Center (LRC),” stated Paul Lloyd, Managing Director of Arizona Lithium. “The facility has been operational for a period of time and has hosted government and industry leaders, who have all been very impressed with the personnel and operations at the LRC. We have been overwhelmed with the support of the Arizona government and our partner for the event, the ACA. We strongly believe the LRC is critical to the company in order to test and optimize our Lithium processing technologies and ultimately produce Lithium from both of our major projects, Prairie and Big Sandy, in the most economic and sustainable manner.”
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, added, “We are proud to celebrate the grand opening of the Lithium Research Center. Arizona Lithium marks yet another international company investing in Arizona, showcasing the state’s global attractiveness. The Tempe facility strengthens Arizona’s mining and materials industry and highlights our leadership in clean energy technologies, such as batteries.”
Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, remarked, “Arizona Lithium enters Tempe at a time in which Greater Phoenix is surging as a national hub for battery activity. The company’s research, test work and processing capabilities are going to play a key role in elevating the ecosystem around Arizona.”
