Dallas Community Courts Mark 17 Years of Service in West Dallas
The West Dallas Community Court, an integral part of the City of Dallas Community Courts, celebrated its 17th anniversary on December 5, 2025.
Located at 2828 Fish Trap Road, the court has been a key player in addressing quality-of-life infractions since its inception on November 18, 2008. This institution focuses on Class C misdemeanors and code violations, such as driving without a license, speeding, and public intoxication. Through the court’s restorative justice approach, residents can opt to perform community service instead of paying fines, while also receiving support from social services coordinators who help identify and overcome personal barriers.
The anniversary event featured speeches from prominent figures, including Judge Mark Murrell, the current presiding judge; former presiding judge Judge Tonya Goffney; Administrative Judge Preston Robinson; and Osiris Marquez, Assistant Director of Municipal Court & Detention Services. The contributions of Social Services Coordinator LaKebra Mahomes and Community Service Coordinator Giovanna Lastra were also highlighted, showcasing their dedication to community rehabilitation.
