CarbonCapture Inc. Unveils Groundbreaking Manufacturing Facility in Mesa, Arizona
In a strategic move to bolster the clean energy sector, CarbonCapture Inc. has announced its new high-volume manufacturing facility based in Mesa, Arizona. This trailblazing site, covering 83,000 square feet, is set to produce up to 4,000 modules annually, equating to a removal capacity of two megatons of carbon dioxide by 2029. The decision to establish this facility in Mesa stemmed from a nationwide search, with factors such as clean energy availability, workforce readiness, and institutional support playing pivotal roles.
The Arizona Commerce Authority, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Arizona State University, and Salt River Project were instrumental in facilitating this development. Situated at 3437 S. Crismon Road in Mesa’s Elliot Road Technology Corridor—which already hosts tech giants like Apple, Google, and Meta—the site will initially employ 30 full-time staff, expanding to 400 by 2029.
Governor Katie Hobbs expressed her enthusiasm, stating, We are proud CarbonCapture will establish this new manufacturing facility, the first-of-its-kind in the world, right here in Arizona. The facility represents a significant milestone for Arizona, advancing our clean energy economy and creating skilled jobs to support Arizona’s rapidly-growing manufacturing industry.
Set for completion in 2025, the Mesa plant will mark a significant milestone for CarbonCapture, pioneering mass production of its innovative modular systems. These systems are designed for easy installation across various locations in the United States. With a focus on reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide, CarbonCapture’s technology aligns with national climate goals, while also stimulating growth in the manufacturing and clean energy sectors.
CEO Adrian Corless highlighted Arizona’s role in the company’s expansion, mentioning, We’re excited that Arizona is joining California, Wyoming and other states in the vanguard of the American DAC industry. Arizona’s vibrant innovation ecosystem and commitment to clean tech made it the ideal location for our manufacturing site.
He also emphasized the company’s commitment to offering competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and partnerships with educational institutions for workforce training.
Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, added, With this innovative facility, CarbonCapture advances Arizona’s clean energy ecosystem and adds to Mesa’s vibrant manufacturing industry.
Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, noted CarbonCapture’s impact on the region’s innovation landscape. He said, CarbonCapture’s recent partnerships with organizations like ASU, the Amazon Climate Pledge Fund and Frontier Climate and its work to advance DAC technology position it as a catalyst for progress in the globally significant climate technology ecosystem.
Mesa Mayor John Giles also recognized the city’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing, stating, CarbonCapture Inc. joins a growing list of companies that recognize Mesa as a leading hub of advanced manufacturing.
This facility marks CarbonCapture’s second major project, following Project Bison in Wyoming, which received U.S. Department of Energy support through the $3.5 billion Regional DAC Hubs program. CarbonCapture also partners in the Southwest Regional DAC Hub in Arizona.
