Magna’s Expansion to Mesa Promises Economic Growth and Job Creation
MESA, AZ (August 8, 2024) – In a significant boost to Arizona’s burgeoning automotive sector, Magna, a leading mobility technology company, has announced the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Mesa. The plant, located in Power Industrial Park, will span nearly 230,000 square feet and is projected to create hundreds of new jobs.
This multi-million-dollar investment underscores the rapid growth of Arizona’s automotive ecosystem, which already includes electric vehicle companies like Lucid and Nikola, along with automated vehicle innovators such as May Mobility and Gatik.
Magna’s decision to locate its new manufacturing facility in Mesa demonstrates Arizona’s attractiveness for the automotive industry,
commented Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority. She expressed gratitude for Magna’s commitment to the state and anticipated their growth as part of Arizona’s thriving mobility ecosystem.
According to Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Magna’s arrival in Mesa bolsters an already adept regional ecosystem. As Greater Phoenix continues to drive clean technology innovation at a national scale, Magna’s new facility will allow for more expansive growth in the emerging automotive sector.
Mesa Mayor John Giles highlighted the city’s strategic investments in education and infrastructure, stating, Mesa’s strategic investments in education, infrastructure and world-class amenities make us a premier destination for businesses looking to thrive in this dynamic industry. Magna plans to incorporate state-of-the-art technology and virtual tools in the facility, leveraging their extensive experience with various OEMs to ensure quality and flexibility.
