Corvid Technologies to Create 423 Jobs with Major Expansion in Iredell County
In a significant development for North Carolina’s economy, Corvid Technologies, a key player in the defense contracting sector, is set to expand its operations in Iredell County. Governor Josh Stein announced today that the company will create 423 new jobs and invest $95 million to enhance its Mooresville campus with a new advanced manufacturing facility.
Governor Stein emphasized the company’s impressive growth trajectory, stating, “Corvid’s homegrown success and growth speak to the advantages of doing business in North Carolina. This major expansion affirms the company’s confidence in our talented manufacturing and engineering workforce, business climate, and stable economy.”
Founded in 2004, Corvid Technologies has evolved from a small modeling and simulation firm into a prominent defense contractor. The company specializes in advanced digital engineering and precision manufacturing, offering comprehensive solutions from design to production. The upcoming expansion will include a new 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility dedicated to engineering and manufacturing vehicle launch systems in Mooresville.
Dr. David Robinson, President and CEO of Corvid Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, saying, “We’re incredibly excited to continue expanding our campus here in North Carolina and investing in the people, facilities, and capabilities that will support Corvid’s growth for years to come.” He noted the company’s rapid growth, expanding from 8,000 square feet of manufacturing space to 800,000 square feet in just over two years.
N.C. Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley highlighted the significance of the expansion, stating, “Corvid is advancing defense innovation and helping strengthen our national security. This expansion underscores how North Carolina provides the stable, supportive environment that high-tech start-ups need to thrive while connecting them with a rich ecosystem of innovation and talent.”
The expansion project was discussed by North Carolina leaders and Corvid representatives during the 2026 Farnborough International Airshow. The new positions will span various roles, including assemblers, electricians, engineers, production managers, technicians, and testers, with an average annual salary of $81,550, surpassing the Iredell County average of $64,895. This will potentially lead to an annual payroll impact of nearly $34.5 million for the area.
The expansion is supported by a Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) approved by the state’s Economic Investment Committee. Over 12 years, this initiative is expected to enhance the state’s economy by $1.7 billion. The JDIG agreement authorizes up to $4,449,750 in potential reimbursements to Corvid, contingent on meeting job creation and investment targets.
As Corvid chose a Tier 3 site in Iredell County, the JDIG agreement also allocates up to $1,483,250 to the state’s Industrial Development Fund – Utility Account, which supports infrastructure development in rural communities. Senator Vickie Sawyer praised the expansion, “This is great news for Iredell County and the entire state. These great-paying jobs are exactly the opportunities we want to provide the hardworking people that call our region home.”
Representative Todd Carver echoed this sentiment, “Corvid’s continued investment is a welcomed addition for Mooresville. This company is a valuable community partner, and we appreciate the collaboration between state, regional, local, and economic development leaders that supported the company’s decision to grow here at home.”
The project is supported by several partners, including the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, and local educational institutions. Corvid Technologies has also benefited from the One North Carolina Small Business Program, which has propelled its innovation and growth.
