North Carolina Health Officials to Receive Fall Vaccinations Amid Rising Concerns
As the fall respiratory illness season approaches, North Carolina’s health leadership is taking proactive measures to safeguard against prevalent viruses. On Friday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m., NC Health and Human Services Secretary Devdutta Sangvai, along with other NCDHHS leaders, will receive vaccinations at the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health. Following the vaccinations, Secretary Sangvai and the team will engage with the media for a brief session.
The urgency of this initiative follows the announcement of the first flu-related death in the 2026-2027 season last week. The NCDHHS emphasizes the importance of protecting oneself and one’s family from flu, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Vaccinations for flu, COVID-19, and RSV are readily accessible at various locations including pharmacies, private medical offices, some federally qualified health care centers, and local health departments. To find more information on respiratory viruses and access vaccines, testing, and treatment in your area, please visit the NCDHHS’ Seasonal Respiratory Illnesses webpage.
