Maricopa County Nears Completion of Primary Election Ballot Tabulation
In a significant update, Maricopa County’s Elections Department has nearly finalized the counting process for the recent Primary Election. As of the latest reports, more than 99% of the approximately 675,000 ballots have been processed and tabulated. This achievement comes just over 24 hours after the polls closed, highlighting the relentless dedication of the poll workers and election staff who have labored tirelessly to ensure a smooth electoral process.
The swift progress in counting is partially attributed to a new option available to voters this election cycle, allowing them to verify their identity and have their early ballots tabulated directly at the Vote Center. This innovation has significantly reduced the number of early ballots needing signature verification post-election, expediting the overall process.
Currently, less than 1,000 provisional ballots and around 3,000 ballots with issues requiring voter ‘curing’ remain to be processed. Voters must address these issues by Sunday, as mandated by State law. Both permanent and temporary staff at the Elections Department are continuing their diligent efforts to ensure every valid vote is accounted for. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt thanks to these committed public servants for their unwavering efforts during this election period.
