Nightly Road Closures Planned for West Lake Road as Part of Complete 540 Project
RALEIGH – Construction efforts to extend the Triangle Expressway, also known as Toll N.C. 540, are progressing with the North Carolina Turnpike Authority leading the charge. The southern section of the Complete 540 Project aims to connect N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.
As part of this ongoing development, West Lake Road will face temporary closures between Jamison Park Drive and Langston Circle. These closures are scheduled to occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., starting on or around Monday, July 8 through Tuesday, July 9. During this period, local access will remain available, but through traffic is encouraged to avoid the area or follow designated detour routes.
Detour Routes for Drivers
For those needing to travel north of the closure on West Lake Road, the recommended route involves:
- Driving east on Optimist Farm Road
- Turning left onto Bells Lake Road
- Turning left onto Ten Ten Road
- Turning left onto West Lake Road
Conversely, drivers heading south of the closure on West Lake Road should:
- Drive east on Ten Ten Road
- Turn right onto Bells Lake Road
- Turn right onto Optimist Farm Road
- Turn right onto West Lake Road
These traffic adjustments are subject to weather conditions, and motorists should anticipate potential delays. Extra caution is advised when navigating the active work zone.
