The N.C. Department of Transportation has announced a temporary traffic detour on U.S. 29/70 in Davidson County, aiming to facilitate a new traffic pattern near Davidson-Davie Community College. This change will impact southbound drivers starting tomorrow evening.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tomorrow, southbound lanes will be redirected offsite as crews initiate preparations for the traffic shift. The detour is scheduled to remain effective until 6 a.m. on Wednesday.

Detour Route Details

During the detour period, motorists can expect the following route:

  • Exit U.S. 29/70 South at Evans Road and continue on Old Greensboro Road.
  • Pass through the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College.
  • Merge onto Caldcleugh Road.
  • At the end of Caldcleugh Road, turn right to rejoin U.S. 29/70 South.

Upon completion of the work by Wednesday morning, the southbound traffic will be directed to follow a newly established traffic pattern. Drivers are urged to exercise caution when navigating through the work zone and should expect potential delays due to the detour.
