In an effort to uplift the youth of Flint and offer them a chance to gain valuable skills, the City of Flint is hosting a Youth Summer Job Fair. Scheduled for Monday, June 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the event will take place at the Mays Senior & Community Center, situated at 1002 W. Home Ave.
This event aims to bridge the gap between young individuals and potential employers, as well as workforce development organizations and training programs. Attendees will have the chance to explore various career paths and enhance their job-related skills, which are essential for long-term success.
Participants at the job fair will have direct access to employers, learn about available summer jobs, and discover training programs. Additionally, they will be introduced to resources that can guide them towards sustainable career growth.
The initiative is part of the City of Flint’s strategy to provide constructive opportunities for the youth, contributing to community safety and economic advancement. By aligning young people with meaningful work, mentorship, and development resources, Flint aims to reduce violence and pave the way for brighter futures.
Mayor Sheldon Neeley emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Providing pathways to employment is one of the most effective ways we can support our young people. When youth have access to jobs, skills training, and positive opportunities, they are better equipped to achieve their goals and contribute to a stronger Flint.”
The event welcomes all interested youth and young adults from Flint, free of charge.
