Curfew Guidelines for Flint Youth: Key Details for Parents and Guardians
Flint’s curfew laws are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of minors in the city, providing clear guidelines for when children and teenagers should be off the streets. These regulations vary by age group and are enforced by the local police department.
Curfew for Children 12 Years and Younger
- Children must leave public streets, parks, and public places by 10:00 p.m.
- The curfew lifts at 6:00 a.m.
- An exception is made if they are with a parent, guardian, or a designated adult.
Curfew for Youth Aged 13–14 Years
- Youth are required to be off public streets, parks, and public spaces by 11:00 p.m.
- The curfew is lifted at 6:00 a.m.
- They may remain out past curfew if accompanied by a parent, guardian, or designated adult.
Curfew for Youth Aged 15–16 Years (Under 17)
- Curfew begins at 12:00 midnight and ends at 6:00 a.m.
- Exceptions include being with a parent, guardian, designated adult (21+), or undertaking a legitimate errand directed by a parent or guardian.
Special Event Curfew
For large public events such as fireworks displays or Back to the Bricks, the Flint Police Chief may impose a Special Public Events Curfew:
- The curfew applies to youth under 17 years old
- Curfew hours are from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- The curfew is enforced only within specific event areas as announced by the Flint Police Department.
