In a move to enhance family engagement in education, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has unveiled the North Carolina Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council. This statewide initiative aims to integrate parents more deeply into the educational process, fostering a collaborative environment that supports the state’s Strategic Plan.
The Council will comprise parent leaders from various regions, working in an advisory role corresponding to the eight State Board of Education regions. The goal is to amplify informed family voices, build trust, and enable those closest to students to actively shape the educational landscape.
The term “parent” for this initiative includes all primary caregivers, such as guardians and family members involved in a child’s education.
North Carolina Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green emphasized, “As we continue to implement our Strategic Plan, it is critical that we engage families not just as stakeholders, but as informed partners.” He remarked that the Council would foster leadership that can offer meaningful insights to boost student outcomes.

Encouraging Broad Participation
