The Author Events Series Hosts Barbara McQuade for a Discussion on Her Book The Fix: Saving America from the Corruption of a Mob-Style Government
In Conversation with Zane Memeger
Barbara McQuade, a seasoned federal prosecutor, dissects the exploitation of political power in her book, The Fix. Using her extensive experience, McQuade unveils the mechanisms of corruption and chaos employed by organized crime and political opportunism, focusing on how these elements manipulate systems to suppress accountability and control institutions. Her analysis highlights the tactics utilized by the far-right MAGA movement, including information warfare, aggressive retaliation, enforced conformity, and the systematic erosion of legal safeguards meant to protect public interest and justice.
McQuade combines courtroom narratives, political insights, and historical lessons to argue that the threats to democracy are not distant threats but present realities. While The Fix serves as a warning, it also acts as a catalyst for change. McQuade proposes practical reforms and strategies in her concluding chapters, emphasizing reclaiming the rule of law and revitalizing democracy through collective action.
This insightful work is critical for anyone invested in America’s future and eager to engage in efforts to defend it. The book is both accessible and enlightening, rooted in a firm belief in constitutional principles.
