Explore New Adventures with the Free Library’s Summer Quest

This summer, the Free Library is launching an exciting new program called Summer Quest, designed for participants of all ages. Whether you’re a child, teen, or adult, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

From June 8 to August 14, visitors are encouraged to stop by any Free Library location to pick up an Activity Map and embark on their summer adventure. Each library will offer sign-up prizes, and some will host raffles.

The program invites participants to engage with five unique characters: the Reader, the Creator, the Gamer, the Explorer, and the Scientist. Choose your character, embark on quests, and complete the ultimate library adventure!

The Reader – A thinker who absorbs stories and crafts their own narratives.

The Creator – An artist who thrives on imagination and self-expression.

The Gamer – An adventurer tackling challenges through play.

The Explorer – A time traveler understanding history to shape the future.

The Scientist – An investigator exploring the world through experiments.

Participants are encouraged to try new activities, discover new authors, or enhance their skills in areas of interest. What will your library adventure include this summer?

Join our five characters as they explore the diverse programs and resources available at the Free Library of Philadelphia and across the city. The journey began on the Grand Staircase at the Parkway Central Library.

The Gamer made a stop at the FLoP (Free Library of Philadelphia) Bowl Esports Championship at Localhost Philly, organized by the Field Teen Center. She was thrilled to congratulate the winning team from Lillian Marrero Library and looks forward to participating in video game programs this summer.

The Reader is eager to visit the various library locations offering storytime, aiming to enhance literacy skills while enjoying music, dance, and meeting new friends. The library’s Events Calendar helped plan their storytime journey.

The Creator and the Explorer took a bus ride to admire the East Market Murals, a project by Mural Arts Philadelphia, featuring a piece by Manuela Guillén. They are excited to explore their artistic sides through the arts and crafts programs available this summer.

Lastly, the Scientist visited the Franklin Institute to prepare for GSK Science in the Summer, marking its 40th year of providing hands-on science learning for kids entering grades 2-6. This program will be hosted at 27 Free Library locations, with registration details available on the Events Calendar.
