Unleashing Creativity: A Night of Art for Young Minds
The Arthur Secunda Museum at Cleary University recently became a vibrant hub of creativity and exploration, as it opened its doors to a lively event that brought together young children and their families. Known as “Little Artists’ Night,” this event attracted 265 participants, offering them a unique opportunity to engage with art in an inspiring setting.
Held on March 26, this event was a collaboration between the Arthur Secunda Museum, Great Start Livingston, and the Howell Carnegie Library. The overwhelming number of attendees highlighted the community’s interest and excitement in art engagement for children.
For many families, this was their first experience at the museum. The young attendees did more than just observe art; they interacted with it, drawing inspiration from Arthur Secunda’s vivid and textural pieces.
Interactive Art Experiences for Young Creatives
The museum was transformed into an engaging environment for young artists, featuring various activities:
- Art Stations: Kids had the chance to create using torn-paper collage and introductory printmaking, reflecting Secunda’s signature style.
- Gallery Scavenger Hunt: An interactive adventure through the exhibition space that kept children entertained.
- Relaxation Room: A calming area where children could unwind with coloring activities.
- Additional Perks: Complimentary art-themed books, snacks, and live music from a young harpist added to the experience.
The museum has also hosted various groups, from school students to community organizations. To arrange a customized tour for your group, contact us via email.

Enhancing the Museum Experience
Thanks to a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, the museum’s lighting will be upgraded to enhance the display of artworks. This improvement will use LED bulbs, reducing light exposure and preserving the art for future generations.
