Dallas Fire-Rescue Celebrates “Seniors On The Move” Program Anniversary

Celebrating a Year of Wellness and Safety for Dallas Seniors

The Samuel Grand Recreation Center buzzed with energy as Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) officials and community members gathered to honor the first anniversary of “Seniors On The Move.” This initiative has revolutionized how seniors in Dallas engage with fitness and public safety.

Initially launched as a trial in April 2025, “Seniors On The Move” has expanded its reach to almost 300 residents in its first year. Originally conceived as a local exercise class, it has blossomed into a city-wide program promoting wellness and community engagement across Dallas’ recreation centers.

To commemorate the program’s success, DFR Chief Justin Ball, along with Assistant Chiefs and the Community Outreach team, participated in a special workout session with the seniors. Long-time community leader Cedric Bailey, who crafted the free exercise routines specifically for older adults, led the session.

The program extends beyond physical fitness by acting as a conduit for public safety education. Participants benefit from fire safety lessons provided by DFR members and access essential resources and community support tailored for the elderly.

Entering its second year, “Seniors On The Move” continues to prioritize the well-being of Dallas’ senior residents. Dallas Fire-Rescue is dedicated to bringing vitality, music, and health knowledge to recreation centers city-wide.

Residents interested in upcoming dates for “Seniors On The Move” are encouraged to contact their local city recreation center.
