A New Chapter for The Foundation for Delaware County: Michael Kellerman Takes the Helm
The Foundation for Delaware County is set to embark on a new journey with the appointment of Michael Kellerman as President, effective October 1, 2025. This decision follows a comprehensive nationwide search conducted by Kittleman & Associates, LLC, and was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors.
Michael steps into the role following Frances Sheehan, the Foundation’s first President, who has been at the helm since 2017 and will retire in October 2025. Mike Magnavita, Board Chair, expressed confidence in Michael’s capabilities, citing his “proven track record in nonprofit management and a deep commitment to Delaware County.”
With a strong background in philanthropy and leadership roles, Michael most recently served as Interim Executive Director at several organizations, including the Philanthropy Network of Greater Philadelphia and WOAR – Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence.
Magnavita noted, “A respected and seasoned nonprofit leader, Michael brings more than 25 years of experience advancing mission-driven organizations, including more than a decade in the Philadelphia region.”
On his appointment, Michael stated, “I am honored to step into this role and lead The Foundation for Delaware County into its next stage of strategic growth and impact.” He is committed to furthering the Foundation’s initiatives such as Delco Gives and maternal health programs while fostering community-driven strategies.
Michael’s leadership is expected to enhance the Foundation’s efforts in addressing crucial community issues and scaling its impact. He also currently holds leadership roles as Board President of the new Philly Pops and Board Treasurer of Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Greater Philadelphia.
The Foundation for Delaware County, the largest independent philanthropy in the county, has distributed over $16 million in grants and charitable care since its inception in 2016. It supports local nonprofits and connects donors to impactful causes through donor-advised and scholarship funds.
The Foundation operates various public health initiatives, including Healthy Start and the WIC nutrition program, serving over 8,000 families annually. Delco Gives, the county’s digital giving day, has raised nearly $4 million for local nonprofits since its launch in 2024.
