Explore Your Heritage with the Black Genealogy Club
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, the Legacy Lab initiative invites Black community members to delve into their ancestry. Through a six-month program led by House of Zamani, participants will learn valuable skills to uncover and document their family’s past. While registration is recommended, it’s not a prerequisite for participation.
This Month: Connecting the Dots to Trace Ancestral Lines
Attend our latest workshop focused on overcoming common challenges in genealogical research. Participants will learn to work around research roadblocks, utilize collateral lines, comprehend migration patterns, and make use of resources from local historical organizations, including the African American Museum of Philadelphia and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.
Next Month
Join us for a collaborative session with the Black Genealogy Club at the Cobbs Creek Library, where a workshop on “Preserving Your Legacy” will be held on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00am. Find more details here. We will reconvene at Kingsessing in June for the concluding session.
