The Dwight Evans Library in West Oak Lane is undergoing significant upgrades to its HVAC system to ensure better service and comfort for its patrons. This project marks a pivotal step in enhancing the facility’s infrastructure, promising an improved environment for visitors and staff alike.
On April 7, 2026, construction commenced to replace the outdated heating and air conditioning system at the library. The new installation aims to extend the library’s operational capability across varying weather conditions while also boosting air quality and energy efficiency. The project is slated for completion over the summer months, anticipating a reopening on September 1, 2026.
June 1, 2026 Update
Throughout April and May, progress has been made with the partial installation of a large new indoor air handling unit. This includes modifications to the overhead ductwork and the pouring of a new exterior concrete equipment pad.
To safeguard the library’s collections and shelving from construction dust and debris during the duct-cleaning process, all items have been securely wrapped in plastic.
The construction timeline remains on schedule, ensuring that the library will be ready to welcome visitors again on September 1.
