As the school bells are set to ring in a new academic year, the Free Library is all set to welcome students with its comprehensive afterschool program and a suite of digital resources. Whether you’re tackling elementary sight words or delving into complex calculus, these resources ensure students have the support they need anytime, anywhere.
LEAP Afterschool Program
Every city library hosts the LEAP program from Monday to Friday right after school hours. Designed for students in grades K-12, LEAP offers free, drop-in sessions, guided by Assistant Recreation Leaders and Teen Leadership Assistants. Younger children, under the age of 7, must be accompanied by an adult. From homework help on a range of subjects to engaging daily activities like poem parties, science experiments, or art projects, LEAP provides a well-rounded educational support system. For more details, check the events calendar to find out what’s happening at your local library.
Homework Help Online
Students can benefit from live online tutoring available daily from 9 am to midnight. Offering support in both English and Spanish, Homework Help Online is powered by Tutor.com and assists with subjects ranging from writing to math and even resume building. By logging in with a library card, students can access an array of resources, including educational videos and essay feedback.
Free Library Online Resources
For those late-night study sessions, the library provides a wealth of online databases accessible 24/7. Gale in Context offers tailored content for Elementary, Middle School, and High School students, including articles on various topics, primary sources, and biographies.
The World Book Encyclopedia serves as an excellent resource for students in grade five and above, offering maps, educational videos, research guides, and more. By creating a free account, students can save their research for future reference.
Regardless of whether you’re studying by daylight or burning the midnight oil, the Free Library offers a wealth of back-to-school resources at no cost!
