Over Half a Million Dollars Awarded to Strengthen Delaware County Nonprofits
In a powerful show of collaboration, The Foundation for Delaware County and The Community’s Foundation have announced the distribution of over $516,000 to support 74 nonprofits serving Delaware County. Addressing urgent community needs, this initiative focuses on improving health, youth development, and community services.
“Strong nonprofits are essential to a thriving Delaware County,” remarked Michael Kellerman, president of The Foundation for Delaware County. The initiative, called Partners in Giving, empowers organizations that bolster community health, expand opportunities, and deliver vital services. Dierdre Konar, president of The Community’s Foundation, emphasized the strength of partnership in increasing support and resources for nonprofits.
Grant Allocations Boost Community Services
The grant allocations were distributed across several critical areas:
⦁ Community Development: Organizations like Chester Community Improvement Project and Habitat for Humanity received funding to enhance neighborhood stability and economic opportunities.
⦁ Health: Beneficiaries such as ChesPenn Health Services and Domestic Abuse Project of Philadelphia will improve healthcare access, including mental health and oral health services.
⦁ Hospice and Home HealthCare: Grants will assist groups like Wayne Senior Center in providing hospice and home care to vulnerable populations.
⦁ Services for Cancer Survivors: Breathing Room Foundation and others will use funds to alleviate financial burdens on families focusing on recovery.
⦁ Youth Development: The Boys & Girls Club of Chester and similar programs will expand educational and workforce opportunities for youth.

William Penn School District Initiates Superintendent Search
The William Penn School District is seeking a new superintendent, partnering with Chester County Intermediate Unit for the search. Delloso Secures $2.5M for Community Projects, Including Taylor Hospital
State Rep. David Delloso announced $2.5 million in state funding for projects in the 162nd Legislative District, including $1 million to revive Taylor Hospital’s emergency services. Other funded projects include police vehicles for Darby Township and infrastructure improvements across the district.

Amvets Post 118 to Host Crab Feast

Fire Prevention Week Events by Delaware County Fire Companies
Fire Prevention Week, from Oct. 4-10, will see local fire companies hosting open houses.
