Discover Urban Birdlife with Friends of the Wissahickon and Friends of Vernon Park
Experience the charm of urban birdwatching right in your neighborhood! Join the Friends of the Wissahickon and Friends of Vernon Park for a leisurely birding stroll through the serene Vernon Park. This event is perfect for beginners, requiring no prior experience or equipment.
We’ll kick off the event in front of the Coleman Library, where participants will receive a brief introduction to birdwatching basics. From there, we’ll embark on a journey to Vernon Park to observe the diverse array of backyard birds that inhabit this urban green space.
If you own a pair of binoculars, feel free to bring them along. However, don’t worry if you don’t have your own; we have you covered! Additionally, you can visit any Free Library branch before the event to borrow a Birding Backpack. These backpacks come fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy birdwatching, including binoculars, a field guide, and a map of Wissahickon Valley Park.
To ensure everyone is kept informed of any weather-related or emergency cancellations, registration is mandatory. Please use the link above to register. As always, service animals are welcome.
