Public Outcry Follows Federal Agents’ Actions in Minneapolis
The recent incident involving the death of Alex Pretti at the hands of masked federal agents in Minneapolis has sparked significant national controversy. This event has drawn condemnation from various political figures, including several GOP governors, while Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has remained noticeably quiet on the issue.
Daniele Monroe-Moreno, Chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party, expressed her views in a statement:
“Following the heinous murder of a second U.S. citizen in Minneapolis, ICE and Border Patrol agents continue to terrorize our communities and violate our constitutional rights. Rather than investigate Alex Pretti’s death, the Trump administration shamelessly rushed to brand him as a domestic terrorist and blocked local law enforcement from investigating. After Alex Pretti’s murder, his parents released a statement saying that he ‘loved this country, but he hated what people were doing to it.’ As we reel from yet another senseless killing following the deaths of Renee Good and Keith Porter, my family and I grieve for these victims.
“This is a pivotal moment in our nation’s history and elected officials must stand up and lead with courage. As someone who frequently touts his law enforcement background, Joe Lombardo should be incensed at the Trump Administration’s refusal to cooperate with local law enforcement. Instead, Lombardo refuses to condemn these unlawful murders by masked, rogue federal agents. This clear abuse of power must be called out. Yet, he’s silent as Trump’s ICE terrorizes communities, infringes on our constitutional rights, and stokes fear.
“As former law enforcement, I believe in law and order. Not fear and violence. In his refusal to condemn the actions of these federal agents, Lombardo is failing to reassure Nevadans he will protect our communities, proving he can’t be trusted to lead our state.”
