Nevada Lawmakers Demand Probe into Boring Co.’s Environmental Practices

Concerns Over Boring Company’s Environmental Practices Prompt Lawmakers’ Action

Recent developments have brought attention to the environmental practices of Elon Musk’s Boring Company, particularly after incidents involving hazardous conditions at its Las Vegas construction sites. Nevada lawmakers are urging the state to investigate potential risks posed by the company’s operations.

State Senator Fabian Doñate and Assemblymember Howard Watts have formally requested the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) to examine public health and environmental risks tied to a suspiciously colored pond at the Boring Company’s site. The lawmakers’ letter highlights concerns about “potentially toxic water” that could endanger local residents.

This call to action follows a controversial decision by Joe Lombardo’s administration to waive significant fines previously imposed on the Boring Company for safety violations, bypassing typical OSHA appeal procedures. Allegations have surfaced regarding attempts to erase records of these fines, prompting Assemblymembers Cinthia Moore and Venise Karris to seek an investigation by the Clark County District Attorney.
