Matthew Magaletti Named Sierra Front Field Manager for BLM Carson City

Matthew Magaletti Steps into Role as New BLM Sierra Front Field Manager

In a significant appointment within the Bureau of Land Management, Matthew Magaletti has been named the Sierra Front Field Manager for the Carson City District. This new position marks a pivotal point in his career dedicated to public land management.

Magaletti’s journey with the BLM began through the Student Career Experience Program in Arizona. It was here that he first recognized the importance of engaging communities in the stewardship of public lands. His professional path led him from roles as a realty specialist to a land use planner in southern Arizona.

Before his current appointment in Nevada, Magaletti served as a BLM Policy Analyst in Washington D.C. He subsequently returned to the western states, taking on the role of Project Coordinator in Nevada. In this capacity, he successfully collaborated with various stakeholders, including government agencies and ranchers, to formulate land use strategies that safeguard sage grouse habitats while adhering to the BLM’s multiple-use mission. His experience also includes working as the National Partnerships Coordinator at BLM Headquarters.

“I am excited about this new chapter of my career and the chance to manage public lands in a collaborative manner in my own backyard,” Magaletti expressed. “Public lands in Nevada are incredibly important to our communities, economy, and way of life, and I look forward to being a part of it.”

Magaletti’s roots trace back to the outskirts of Tucson, AZ, where he grew up. He is an alumnus of Arizona State University, holding a master’s degree in environmental planning and a bachelor’s in landscape architecture. Outside of his professional commitments, Magaletti enjoys exploring the Sierra Nevada and Great Basin public lands with his two Bengal cats and partner. His hobbies also include renovating old houses and dabbling in gardening.
