In a significant move to enhance connectivity, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has approved a plan to install a fiber optic line aiming to bolster internet access across several communities in Nevada. This development is part of the High Speed NV Initiative led by the Office of Science, Innovation and Technology, striving to offer affordable and reliable high-speed internet to homes and businesses.
The fiber optic line, operated by Sky Fiber Internet, will connect the communities of Yerington, Silver Springs, Mound House, and Carson City. The infrastructure project will follow US Highway 50 from Carson City to Silver Springs and continue along US Highway 95-Alt from Silver Springs to Yerington.
The BLM’s decision record on this matter can be accessed through the following link: 2025 Sky Fiber Line.
