The expansion of broadband infrastructure in California’s rural regions takes a significant step forward as the Bureau of Land Management Sierra Front Field Office grants rights-of-way (ROW) to key players in the technology sector. The California Department of Technology and American Dark Fiber have been authorized to develop fiber optic facilities in the Hallelujah Junction area, straddling Lassen and Plumas Counties.
This move aligns with the objectives of the State Senate Bill SB 156, which aims to enhance broadband connectivity and infrastructure in underserved rural areas of California. The initiative, known as the “Middle Mile” Broadband project, seeks to bridge the digital divide by investing in essential technological infrastructure.
For those interested in further details, including a map of the proposed project areas, information is available on the BLM National NEPA Register.
