BLM Approves Modifications to Bald Mountain Mine Operations in Nevada

BLM Greenlights Modifications at Bald Mountain Gold Mine

ELY, Nev. — In a recent decision, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has permitted changes to KG Mining (Bald Mountain) Inc.’s operational plans for its Bald Mountain Mine. This open-pit gold mine is located about 60 miles northwest of Ely, within the northwest region of White Pine County.

Effective as of July 20, 2026, the authorization allows for enhancements in mining operations within the North Operations Area. The project, known as the Bald Mountain Mine Process, Casino, and Poker Modification Project, aims to boost ore access, optimize pit sequencing, and improve the efficiency of material transport. Notably, these modifications will not alter the mine’s boundary, prolong its operational life beyond the year 2040, or modify its ore processing methods or production capacity. Details of the proposed changes to the Plan of Operations were made available in the BLM National NEPA Register on June 10, 2026, followed by a public comment period of 30 days that ended on July 10.

For further details, visit the project webpage on the BLM National NEPA Register, or reach out to BLM Geologist Brett Wagers at 775-289-1862 or [email protected].
