Applications Open for 2027 Climbing Permits at Red Rock Canyon
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Outdoor enthusiasts and climbing organizers have an opportunity to access the scenic Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, as the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is now accepting applications for the 2027 Guest Climbing Special Recreation Permits (SRP). The application period is set to run from June 15, 2026, through August 15, 2026.
These permits are essential for those offering commercial and organized group rock guiding services in the conservation area. The Guest Climbing Permits will grant permission for one 10-day trip or two 5-day trips within the 2027 calendar year. Each climbing area is limited to two tours per day, with a maximum of 12 people per route. The BLM has allocated eight permits for commercial entities and four permits for educational institutions or groups.
In the event that the number of applicants surpasses the available permits, a random lottery will determine the recipients, with those not selected being added to a waiting list.
Applicants are urged to ensure their applications are both timely and complete, as late or incomplete submissions may not be considered. Notification of application results will be sent out by September 30, 2026. Successful applicants must then submit a complete Special Recreation Permit package by October 15, 2026, or risk losing their permit.
For further inquiries, the Red Rock Canyon Outdoor Recreation staff can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at (702) 515-5371.
