Barry-Eaton District Health Department Names New Health Officer
September 9, 2025
Transitioning leadership at the Barry-Eaton District Health Department (BEDHD) marks a new chapter as Rebekah Condon, MPH, steps up as Health Officer from October 1, 2025. She succeeds Colette Scrimger, who concludes her distinguished 13-year tenure as Health Officer and a total of 27 years with the department.
Condon is no stranger to BEDHD, having accrued four and a half years of leadership experience, including a two-year stint as Operations Manager. In her role, she managed budget planning, financial operations, and the daily workings of the department. Residing in Barry County, Condon lives in Middleville with her family.
Catherine Getty, Chair of the Board of Health, expressed confidence in Condon’s capabilities, stating, “The Board agreed that Rebekah has the right knowledge, skills, abilities, and leadership characteristics that will best guide BEDHD through these very changing times. Her commitment to protecting and promoting public health in the district is strong and we believe she is ready to lead the department through what is sure to be a challenging few years.”
Condon shared her vision for the role, saying, “I’m honored to step into this role and build on the strong foundation already established here. Public health is fundamentally about serving our community. I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside residents to address the health challenges we face together. While the work ahead won’t always be easy, I believe in what we can accomplish together when we combine proven strategies with strong community partnerships.”
The Barry-Eaton District Health Department, under Condon’s leadership, aims to continue its mission by implementing innovative and community-focused programs and initiatives.
