Livingston County’s Shop With A Cop 2025 Registration Now Open

Livingston County Opens 2025 Shop With A Cop Nominations

Excitement builds as Livingston County gears up for its 21st annual Shop with a Cop event, a cherished tradition that brings joy and festive spirit to local families. The program, supported by several community partners including Walmart, the Livingston County Department of Health and Human Services, and The Well Church, aims to create unforgettable holiday experiences while fostering positive interactions between children and law enforcement.

The Shop with a Cop initiative has been instrumental in brightening Christmas for countless children and families by pairing each child with a police officer to shop for holiday gifts. Participants kick off the day with a lively parade, complete with lights and sirens, en route to Walmart. After selecting gifts within their budget, the children and officers enjoy breakfast together as Santa’s elves wrap the presents.

Currently, the Shop with a Cop Committee is seeking nominations for children aged 5 to 14 from Livingston County who have been affected by legal, court, or child welfare systems. Those interested can review and download the nomination form, with submissions due by October 31, 2025.

In November, a committee will convene to assess the nominations, and families of selected children will receive additional details by mail. It is vital that any changes in address are communicated promptly to ensure proper notification.

For inquiries, individuals can reach out to Lacey Hinton at the Livingston County DHHS by calling 517-715-9775 or emailing HintonL@michigan.gov.

The highly anticipated Shop with a Cop event is scheduled to take place on December 6, 2025, at 8 a.m.
