The city of Flint is gearing up for a pivotal event aimed at enhancing community health. On Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 10am to 3pm, the McKinley Community Center at 249 Peer Ave., Flint, MI, will transform into a hub for health and wellness during the Early Detection Day event.
This free event is designed to connect the community with healthcare providers and resources, offering a comprehensive range of health screenings and wellness activities. It aims to arm residents with knowledge and tools to lead healthier lives, with open admission for all.
Flint Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley emphasized the impact of the event, stating, “Early detection and access to reliable health information can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. By bringing these services directly into our community, we are helping residents take proactive steps to protect their health and the health of their families.”
Event Highlights
Participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of several health services and activities:
- Mobile mammography screenings
- Vaccinations, along with HPV and cervical cancer education
- Health and prevention education
- Chair yoga and meditation sessions
- Nutrition lessons, complemented by snacks
- Resources focused on men’s health
- Breast health navigation and prevention education
The mobile mammography screenings will be conducted by Henry Ford Genesys Hospital and the Anthony L. Soave Family Mobile Mammography Screening Center. Walk-ins are welcome, though residents interested in scheduling a mammogram appointment can call 313-647-3303.
