Flint’s Summer Celebration Honors Youth and Community Partnerships

Flint Community Gathers for Summer Celebration Honoring Youth and Partnerships

The City of Flint is set to host a vibrant community event, the City of Flint Summer Celebration, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the back lawn of Flint City Hall. This gathering aims to commemorate the end of another enriching summer.

This no-cost, family-friendly event will unite youth, families, neighborhood organizations, and community partners for an afternoon filled with recognition, entertainment, and community bonding as students gear up for the new school year.

The Summer Celebration will feature:

  • Acknowledgment of the participants in the City of Flint Summer Youth Employment Program and the businesses that contributed to preparing young individuals for future endeavors.
  • Appreciation of the efforts by Flint ReCAST grantees and community organizations committed to empowering youth, families, and neighborhoods.
  • Opportunities for residents to connect with essential community resources, programs, and services.
  • An enjoyable atmosphere with music, food, family activities, giveaways, resource booths, and live performances.

Throughout the summer, numerous young people gained significant workplace experience, honed leadership abilities, and explored potential career paths through the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program. Concurrently, Flint ReCAST partners and various community organizations persisted in their dedication to youth development, behavioral health, violence prevention, and neighborhood wellness. The Summer Celebration acknowledges these joint efforts while fostering community unity.

“Our young people are Flint’s future, and our community partners play an essential role in helping them succeed,” said Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley. “The City of Flint Summer Celebration is an opportunity to recognize their hard work, celebrate the partnerships that make our community stronger and connect families with the resources they need to continue thriving.”

This event also provides a platform for residents to discover more about the programs and services available throughout the city, enhancing relationships among families, community organizations, and local authorities.

Details about additional participating organizations and event activities will be shared in the upcoming weeks. This event is free and open to the public, and residents of all ages are encouraged to join in.
