Construction Mishap Causes Water Main Break in Flint

A significant water disruption occurred in Flint, Michigan, when a construction crew inadvertently damaged a major water main. The incident took place on N. Dort Highway, situated between Pierson and Webster Roads, disrupting water service in the area.

On July 22, 2023, a contractor engaged in construction activities at 5145 N Dort Hwy struck a 24-inch main water line. The City of Flint Water Service team promptly arrived on the scene to address the break, yet the extent of the damage required a more prolonged repair effort.

To facilitate the necessary repairs, water service was suspended from Pierson Road and Dort Highway extending to Dort Highway and Webster Road. This shutdown commenced at 8:00 a.m. and was scheduled to last until approximately 3:00 p.m.

City officials stated, “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to restore water service as quickly and safely as possible.” Residents seeking further information can contact 810-766-7079.
