Flint Honors 25th Anniversary of September 11 with Reflection and Unity

The City of Flint stands united with communities across the United States in commemorating the lives lost and the profound bravery displayed during the events of September 11, 2001.

As we reach the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that indelibly marked our nation, we remember the nearly 3,000 individuals who perished in the tragedies at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and on Flight 93, which crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

A quarter-century later, the memory of the victims, survivors, first responders, military personnel, and countless others affected by that day endures in our hearts. Their courage and sacrifices continue to inspire us.

Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley expressed, “September 11 is a solemn reminder of the tremendous loss our nation endured, but it also reminds us of the courage, compassion and unity Americans showed in one of our darkest moments. Twenty-five years later, we honor every life lost, every family that carries their memory and every first responder who answered the call to serve. As a community and as a nation, we must continue to carry forward that same spirit of service and unity. We will never forget.”

The City of Flint urges its residents to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made on September 11 and in the ensuing years, ensuring that the legacy of those events continues to be recognized and honored.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
