FLINT, Mich. — In a dedicated effort to support residents affected by the recent federal government shutdown, the City of Flint continues its voucher program for temporary food supplements, even as normal SNAP benefits are reinstated. This initiative underscores the city’s commitment to its community during challenging times.
With the restoration of federal benefits, the city’s emergency food vouchers are no longer needed for a second issuance. However, Flint is determined to honor all distributed vouchers, ensuring residents’ needs are met. “Residents relied on this program during a period of real uncertainty,” stated Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “Although SNAP benefits have resumed, we will continue honoring the vouchers we issued. Keeping our word to residents remains our top priority.”
The City of Flint, in collaboration with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, has organized the logistics for voucher redemption. The schedule for redeeming these vouchers is now officially announced.
