Villanova Hosts 37th Special Olympics Fall Festival, Nov 7-9, 2025

Villanova University to Host Annual Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Festival

VILLANOVA, Pa. (October 13, 2025)—Villanova University is set to welcome athletes, coaches, and volunteers for the Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s (SOPA) annual Fall Festival from November 7-9. This marks the 37th consecutive year that the university has had the honor of hosting this prestigious event.

Anticipation builds as over 1,100 athletes prepare to engage in the three-day festival, with the support of 400 coaches. Villanova’s Inclusion Crew will contribute 1,100 volunteers, alongside 300 Local Program Hosts and a total of 2,500 volunteers from across Pennsylvania.

Organized by Villanova’s Special Olympics Committee, comprising over 100 dedicated student members, the Fall Festival is supported by SOPA. This year’s theme, “Let your passions unleash, create your masterpiece!” emphasizes artistic self-expression, encouraging athletes to highlight their achievements within the competition and celebrate their unique individuality. Various art forms will be showcased, including music, dance, and visual arts, with a special exhibit at the Connelly Center Cinema illustrating the rich history of the event.

“Fall Festival is a wonderfully unifying event that represents the incredible strength of the human spirit and our collective fight for dignity, and we are beyond grateful to continue to serve as its annual host,” said Steve Koch, associate director for leadership programs in the Office of Student Involvement. “Through the collective effort of Villanova’s students, SOPA and all of the volunteers, Fall Festival’s emphasis on encouragement, empowerment, cheers, triumph and expression turns the weekend into a beautiful microcosm of the world as it could be.”

The competition will span multiple sports, including bocce, flag football, long-distance running/walking, powerlifting, soccer, and volleyball. Events commence Friday, November 7, between 1-1:30 p.m., with powerlifting starting at 2 p.m. and concluding Saturday. The festival will conclude with award presentations and dual closing ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, followed by food and remarks.

Victory Jamboree Returns with New Enhancements

Returning for its second year, the Victory Jamboree will be held at the Dixon Center on Villanova’s Cabrini Campus, scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. This event will feature new enhancements, continuing the tradition of promoting health and wellness through the Healthy Athletes initiative, which offers clinical screenings and resources for athletes.

Volunteers will play critical roles throughout the festival, serving in capacities such as officials, athlete escorts, and award presenters. Spectators are encouraged to attend and support the athletes in various competition venues on or near the campus. For more information on volunteering, please contact volunteer@villanovaspo.com.
