Originating from Dallas, Texas, Chelsea Martinez is a dedicated senior at Drake University, majoring in Law, Politics, and Society with additional minors in sociology and psychology. Her passion for law was kindled during her high school years, participating in mock trials and a law academy. As a first-generation Hispanic college student, she is paving the way for future generations in her family.
The Importance of Hispanic Heritage Month
For Chelsea, Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to unite people through the rich traditions and diversity of Spanish-speaking cultures. Choosing Drake University
Martinez opted for Drake University to gain independence by studying away from Texas. Her Tía, alongside her parents, has been a profound influence, instilling in Chelsea the belief that “the sky is the limit.” Her Tía’s teachings emphasize perseverance, the power of positive thinking, and embodying “Mexican power,” serving as a beacon of strength and motivation.
Leisure Activities
In her free time, Chelsea enjoys watching movies and TV shows, particularly The Lincoln Lawyer. She is also revisiting Marvel movies with her boyfriend and seeks to dive back into reading. Outside academics, she works at Chipotle and plays video games like Fortnite and Overcooked.
