Orlando Law Professor Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

An Orlando law professor has been arrested on 50 counts of child pornography possession, as confirmed by records from the Orange County Jail.

Glen-Peter Ahlers, aged 70, has been a faculty member at Barry University’s law campus in Orlando for nearly 24 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Specific details regarding the charges against Ahlers have not been disclosed, and records from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, which conducted the arrest, were not immediately available.

During his first court appearance on Thursday afternoon, the judge imposed several restrictions on Ahlers, including prohibiting contact with children, access to the internet, possession of a passport, and entry to the university campus if released on bond.

Prosecutors expressed concerns about Ahlers returning to campus, citing images found on his devices depicting female students taken from “certain angles.”

Authorities also raised the possibility of Ahlers fleeing after posting bond due to his possession of a pilot’s license.

The judge set Ahlers’ bond at $100,000, but he remained in custody as of Thursday afternoon.

Katherine Doble, spokesperson for Barry University, stated that the law school has placed Ahlers on administrative leave “pending further review” and is cooperating with law enforcement.
